The Community of Harlingen hsa been controlled for the better part of four decades by a small group of wealthier land and business owners, who do not represent the Community of Harlingen.
The average household income in Harlingen is 19,000 per year. The average household income of the Commissioners who control the City of Harlingen is between 100,000 and 200,000 per year.
The lack of fair representation has led to a disconnect in our Community that has dampened our economy, our unity and our spirit. We need change in our City government in order for Harlingen to reach its full potential.
